Born in the Black Forest.
1990
Moving from research to commercial business
Founded in 1990 in the German Black Forest region as a research company, Allianz took note of the small software company and acquired 100% of its shares in 1994. In the early years, metafinanz mainly developed software to support various insurance processes. Thanks to this ongoing focus, the IT company gained extensive industry expertise. This is when company’s success began to take off…
1995
From the Black Forest to the metropolis with a big heart
Due to a growing need to operate in close proximity to its main client, metafinanz founded the Munich office in 1995. Rainer Göttmann, Axel Kummer and Dr. Jürgen Kalkbrenner were appointed to the executive team. The Munich office was fully dedicated to the acquisition of new projects within the Allianz Group, starting with an agency software for insurance sales. Before long, we made a name for ourselves thanks to the top quality, fair conditions and hard work we deliver.
2000
Success comes knocking
Over ten years, the technology center evolved into a sought-after software developer of innovative specialist and technology solutions. Consulting services became the second largest source of revenue, second only to the core business of software development. As a next step, the entire company relocated to Munich. Following the move, a major realignment process was implemented to introduce binding guidelines and procedures: the first generation of metafinanz products was born. This new level of maturity was demonstrated to the outside by changing the corporate design from the ground up.
2005
Dynamic development
In defiance of all industry trends and the Black Friday that shook up markets across the globe in 2002, metafinanz continued to grow consistently. Soon a number of established companies joined the customer base, and major projects for the Allianz Group kept coming. By then, metafinanz had attained a high level of expertise in the object-oriented development of web and client-server applications, particularly in the field of financial services. The company was consistently refining its expertise in this core segment, which in turn led to an ever increasing number of projects.
2010
Living dynamic X²cellence
In 2010 there were two causes for celebration: the 20th anniversary of metafinanz and crossing the sales threshold of €100 million. This period also brought milestones such as welcoming the 100th employee and a stronger public presence at trade shows and in the specialist media. As metafinanz expanded, so did our goals. Dynamic X²cellence became the new corporate motto, and metafinanz launched the metaGO health offensive.
2011
Welcome to the future.
We capitalized on opportunities offered by mobility to bring more flexibility and efficiency to our daily business processes. The first metaApp was launched, and metafinanz took the first step in its ongoing dedication to social commitment. 60 employees lent a helping hand, painting, repairing and renovating a horse farm for curative riding on the biggest Day of Care to date.
2012
metafinanz continues to grow and inspire
In the Computerwoche Top 100 Ranking, metafinanz was presented with the “rising star of the year” award. And when metafinanz joined the “Munich’s best employer” competition, the company made 1st place. With the advent of social media analytics, metafinanz added data analysis in social networks to its portfolio.
2013
From IT service provider to IT service catalyst
metafinanz has long since crossed the 400-employee mark and has begun to drive innovative topics on its own initiative, with a main focus on big data and social collaboration. Significant growth was achieved throughout, first and foremost in the areas of business intelligence and IT consulting. The IT provider participated in the “Great Place to Work” competition to find out how well metafinanz fares against 500 other companies. We made a respectable 27th place in the overall ranking.
2014
We ensure success
In a world of increasing digitization, metafinanz focused on developing innovative and forward-looking solutions that help customers overcome complex challenges. metafinanz consistently expanded its range of IT & consulting services that help digital companies boost their financial success. This included a pilot project in the area of mobile device management for Allianz customer Global Life Health or assuming the role of lead partner in the Data Center Consolidation Allianz project.
2015
Anniversary celebration
The 25th anniversary of metafinanz, which was celebrated with customers and employees, was a major highlight, but there were many more. The company took the leading role in the newly founded German Cyber Security Organization DCSO and expanded its service portfolio to include cyber security. 100 metafinanz employees joined in on the biggest “Day of Care” to date, helping to renovate the facilities of the Munich Dog Rescue Squadron. Once again, an award-winning ranking was achieved in the Great Place to Work competition.
2016
Strategic focus on services
This year was characterized by change. A new business target model was established to better address the needs of customers by developing services that deliver real value. To support this measure, the brand positioning was also revised. metafinanz established itself as an accredited consultant to help a supranational security organization combat cyber terrorism. A new office was opened in Stuttgart. And, as a founding member of the Digitale Stadt München association promoting a digital Munich, metafinanz organized its first Digitalk with partners and customers.
2017
Curiosity fuels our path into the future
metafinanz is helping to shape the paradigm shift that is taking place in the business world and private sphere alike. In support of its long-term strategy, the company started to move towards an organization that stresses individual responsibility and autonomy of employees and a higher degree of team self-organization. A major organizational change was being prepared in order to better meet the challenges of our customers and, consequently, the challenges of the digital world. To communicate the internal developments to the outside world, a new website was built from the ground up and went live.
